You play as Charles Darwin, on a mission to collect as many finches as possible to help develop his Theory of Evolution.

There are four types of bird with distinct beaks and appearances, all of which feed on different foods on the island. You get a point for every bird collected, but get even more points for every 'set' of four birds you collect, so explore the whole island to ensure you catch plenty of each species.

Controls:
A/D - Left/Right
Space - Jump
Shift - Sneak
Left Click - Swing net in direction of mouse cursor
Right Click - Hold to see the net's current range
**Best played WITH a mouse**

Made for the Go Godot Jam 3. Had to submit early, so there are plenty of bits which could be more polished, but I am pleased with the game overall.

46303 points--I think I found a bug where you just keep jumping on a tree and swinging the net and bird will just appear out of no where

I tried it again and I think it only happens when you got a lot of birds

Luck is a big factor

In FireFox shift and right click open up a contextual menu so it cannot be played in FireFox. Seems  fun in Chrome although I had a hard time wall jumping. Everything does look great!

Chrome user myself, so didn't realise. Thanks for pointing it out. The wall jumping isn't great, something I would have liked to work on more but ran out of time.

why I can only use net only on right side?

You need to point the mouse towards what you want to catch. If you use right click it will show you the catch area and the direction it is facing.

Sorry for the dumb question, I was using laptop touchpad and forgot to move the mouse for some reason.

Haha, no problem. I made the whole game on a laptop and playing with a trackpad was always a huge pain, would recommend a mouse.

the looks great! the art assets are very cute.

but one thing. the game runs horribly on my PC. it's like 5-10 fps

maybe it's just my computer but sep for that it is a great game!

Ahh damn, I tried it on a few computers and had a few splutters but it was generally okay.  Thanks though, was fun making it

yeah sep for that the game is awesome

A bit hard to control. Maybe I am not used to falling so quickly.

That's fair. I would have liked to polish the controls a bit more but had to submit early

This is so cute! I've studied evolution a lot academically and I'm so happy to see a Darwin game!

Thank you! Was a really fun theme to work with - learned a lot more about his finches than we maybe needed too aha!
